A Preschool After Care Worker supervises, nurtures, and engages young children (ages 3–5) during the late afternoon hours after regular preschool classes end.

 

Key Responsibilities 

• Safety and Supervision: Monitor children continuously during indoor and outdoor play, manage group transitions, and perform regular headcount checks using rosters. 

• Snack and Personal Care: Assist with afternoon snacks while modeling healthy habits, adhere strictly to allergy logs, and help with personal care routines like handwashing or toileting accidents.

• Activities and Play: Facilitate age-appropriate recreational activities, arts and crafts, music and movement, and child-initiated free play. 

• Behavior Guidance: Use positive reinforcement and redirection strategies to support social-emotional development. 

• Parent Communication: Greet families warmly at pickup and share brief updates regarding the child's afternoon. 

• Environment Maintenance: Clean and sanitize toys, tables, and high-touch areas throughout the shift. 

 

Qualifications and Requirements 

• Age and Education: Must be at least 18 years old; a high school diploma is typically required, with preference given to those holding or pursuing a Child Development Associate (CDA) or early childhood credits. 

• Certifications: Valid Pediatric CPR and First Aid certifications. 

• Background Check: Clear criminal history and fingerprint background screening. 

• Physical Demands: Ability to actively engage with young children, which includes bending, squatting, and lifting up to 30 lbs
